Dr. Sabine Flick
Sabine Flick works as a substitute professor at the Institute of Sociology at the Goethe University Frankfurt in Germany.
Thematic focus: Sociology of gender relations with a focus on health; in particular pregnancy/birth and the therapeutization of society; sociology of culture and knowledge; theories of care and self-care; qualitative methods of social research
She studied sociology at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main and received her doctorate (Dr. phil.) in 20212, which was funded by a doctoral scholarship from the German Research Foundation in the DFG Research Training Group "Geschlechterverhältnisse und Öffentlichkeiten. Dimensionen von Erfahrung" Frankfurt/Kassel.
From 2013 to 2016 she was a research assistant, working on the project "Erwerbsarbeit und psychische Erkrankungen. Therapeutische und betriebliche Bewältigung" at the Institute for Social Research and the Sigmund Freud Institute.
Since 2019 she is the substitute for the professorship "Sociology with a focus on family and youth sociology", Institute of Sociology at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main. In June 2019 she opened the procedure for a habilitation (Venia for Sociology) at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Goethe University.
Her guest research stays include the Berkeley Center for Social Medicine at the Institute for the Study of Societal Issues at the University of California Berkeley and the Cohn Institute for History and Philosophy of Science and Ideas at Tel Aviv University.
Sabine Flick was also the coordinator of the working group "Family, Socialization, Gender Relations" at the Institute for Social Research/Frankfurt and member of the Cornelia Goethe Center for Women's Studies and the Study of Gender Relations.
