His thematic focus of the last 10 years includes: History of sociology, cultural sociology (including the sociology of pregnancy and childbirth), first German-language sociological publication on the topic of pregnancy and childbirth (together with P. Villa & B. Thiessen)
He has received multiple teaching awards (including the State Prize Ars-Docendi for excellent teaching of the Republic of Austria 2017) and prizes for publications.
Since April 2019 Stephan Moebius is a full member of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW) and since November 2017 a member of the Commission for the History and Philosophy of Sciences of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). He is the Deputy Head of the Center for Cultural Studies at the University of Graz since November 2017.
